COMMUTER MORNING: BIKING + THE IDEA OF BROOKLYN

By Levi's® Commuter™ (other events)

Thursday, July 10 2014 9:00 AM 10:00 AM EDT

ABOUT ABOUT

How does the bike define the public image and streetscape of Brooklyn? In this conversation, panelists will discuss the impact of the bike on personal mobility, creative work(forces) and the Brooklyn brand. Does the bike enable a special Brooklyn tech/creative breed? Is there a role for what Senator Schumer has called the "nerd bus" to catalyze the creative/tech sector in Brooklyn? The discussion will range from creating cultural change, to activism, economic development and the role of government in defining Brooklyn as a pre-eminent place to create the next big thing.

Jeff Maki helps public and private organizations deliver better services to customers. He is especially interested in cross-sector partnerships, capacity building and design-minded thinking. Past clients include MTA/New York City Transit, NASA's Ames Research Center, The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and others. Jeff's creative practice—a conversation with his professional practice—interrogates the city and technology, critically examining the structures in which we live and work.
